This Makes Me Sick

The "Religious Left" is attacking America again:

Yale Divinity School students burned a copy of the Bill of Rights and the Ten Commandments at a recent Ash Wednesday service before marking their foreheads with the ashes – not as protest, they say, but to repent for their own complicity in “the ongoing injustice being perpetuated by our nation.”

“Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent where we remember our sins and the ways that we are complicit in evil in our society. As an American, the way that’s most clear today is through the War on Terror and the war on Iraq,” said Christopher Doucot, a first-year master’s student who came up with the idea for the service. About 40 to 45 students, faculty, administrators and local residents attended the service, intended to provide an opportunity for reflection on such topics as secret prisons, “indiscriminate bombings,” domestic spying and torture.

“We were reminding ourselves of our own complicity,” said Doucot. “We’re not pointing fingers at anyone but ourselves.”

"Indiscriminate bombings?" You mean like the ones committed by al Qaeda? Blowing up markets, schools, and everywhere else people are present? It's unbelievable that here we are trying to rid the world of those who chop off heads in the name of religion but we're the bad guys. How many more innocent Americans will die before these liberals are ignored, marginalized, ridiculed, and mocked so we can get on with ridding the world of Islamfascists?

Just out of curiosity, CJ, what's your plan to rid the world of Islamic terrorism? More troops? More money? Nukes? All-out war against Islam as a whole? Toppling every nation-state in the Middle East and running them ourselves?

If you could, please give me some specific tactics and strategies you'd employ. I'm hoping for something unique that we - western civilization, that is - haven't tried before. Nothing has seemed to work for the last millenium, so maybe you've got some fresh ideas.

I have observed Ash Wednesday for many years and never once did it occur to me that one day someone somewhere (in America no less) would incorporate burning a copy of the Bill of Rights and the Ten Commandments as part of their service. How sacrireligioius can the "religious left" fall when repenting of their sins? They only conjured up 40-45 students, faculty, administrators and local residents to attend this fiasco in a community the size of Yale Divinity School. No wide-spread interest here. What will someone somewhere think of next??

I agree with Jane, when the students marked their foreheads with the ashes it was very sacrilegious. Sounds more like Satanism to me than anything else.
