You Think Government Run Health Care Is A Good Idea?

Just put yourself in Barbara Wagner's shoes.

EUGENE, Ore. — After weeks of bad news, things turned Barbara Wagner’s way this week.

Last month her lung cancer, in remission for about two years, was back. After her oncologist prescribed a cancer drug that could slow the cancer growth and extend her life, Wagner was notified that the Oregon Health Plan wouldn’t cover it.

It would cover comfort and care, including, if she chose, doctor-assisted suicide.

Did you get that? The government won't spend the money to save her life but they will help her kill herself. Do you want the government to decide who lives and who dies? Maybe our health care system isn't great but the way it is now at least the drugs are available.

This is frightening news. Any one of us is subject to having cancer at any time in our lives and to be deprived of treatment is just so unbelievable in today's world. We have so many resources available now and no one should be denied any treatment necessary to recover.
I am a cancer survivor myself and cannot imagine such poor coverage.

If we ever have government medical care, I hope we don't follow Oregon's policy. Thas is worse than what we have now. Thought doctor assisted death was out of style but apparently it is alive and well n Oregon.

Don't want anything like that Oregon health care plan. If they have health care all over the country, hope it won't be like Oregon.

Government run health care has been talked about for many years but so far it has not materialized here in the US, and hopefully it will take many more years before the government comes up with a plan that is satisfactory to all people. A plan with which everyone agrees is an impossibility.
